Aptima Inc and GEISTT AB of Sweden Partner on Human-Centered R&D for US and European Markets
Woburn, MA and Stockholm, Sweden, October 7, 2013 — Aptima, Inc. and GEISTT AB announced today that the companies have formed a partnership to offer and develop human-centered services and solutions to the US and European markets, starting with training and performance assessment technologies for military training and operations.
Aptima, which applies expertise in how humans think, learn, and behave, and GEISTT, a Swedish firm whose mission is to unleash the power of sociotechnical systems, will initially focus on identifying training gaps and developing solutions to improve military readiness in light of shifting mission requirements, accelerated deployment schedules, and the needs of joint-force operations.

The partnership between the firms formalizes a professional relationship begun in 2006, when Aptima supported a collaboration between U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI). Aptima’s extensive experience with developing training, systems design, and assessment tools includes contracts with all service branches of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and DoD research laboratories including the Office of Naval Research, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and the Army Research Institute.
Aptima anticipates leveraging products in its portfolio with GEISTT for transfer to the European markets. These include SPOTLITE™, a mobile app for measuring human performance in live operations and field training exercises, such as evaluating pilot readiness at home base and in deployed settings, and PM Engine ™, Aptima’s performance measurement engine for measuring, assessing, tracking, and reporting performance in live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) training and simulation environments.
